What are applicants awarded points for?
Applicants are awarded points for:
  • 75 points for your attributes (age, qualifications, previous earnings, and experience in the United Kingdom); and
  • 10 points for English language; and
  • 10 points for available maintenance (funds).




Are there any additional requirements that I should meet?
Yes, there are additional criteria that you must meet and all though they are not gaining points the following requirements are binding:
  • Proficiency in English;
  • Proof of your will to continue working in the chosen field;
  • Proof that you can support yourself without using UK public funds;
  • Proof of your intention to make UK your main home;
  • Evidence you have never been convicted of any criminal offenses;
  • Evidence you have never gone bankrupt.



Am I guaranteed the Tier 1 in the UK?
Are there any age restrictions on Tier 1?
No there are no age restrictions. However you gain points only if you are under 31 years of age.


Are there any nationality restrictions on Tier 1?
What documents do I need enclosed to my Tier 1 application?
The documents provided must support each requirement you should comply with in order to qualify for the Tier 1. All the documents should be originals, relevant and directly appropriate to the particular criterion and if issued in another language should be translated by a certified translator recognized by the British High Commission or Embassy:
  • Application form completed and duly signed by you;
  • Application charge;
  • Documents showing qualification:
  • Documents showing relevant work experience: the position held should demonstrate either graduate, senior or specialist level experience. Full time employment may only qualify;
  • Documents showing earning power;
  • Documents showing your English skills level;
  • Documents proving that you have enough funder to maintain yourself in UK;



What supporting evidence is required for the MBA provision?
  • A genuine MBA certificate issued by an eligible institute. If you have only recently completed the MBA and the certificate has yet to be issued, you can provide an original academic reference, from your personal tutor, (on the institute’s letter headed paper) confirming the details of your qualification;
  • Evidence of sufficient funds e.g. bank statements or potential income;
  • Evidence you intend to make the UK your home – you will be asked to provide a written undertaking to that effect;
  • Evidence you will be able to continue your carrier in the UK e.g. offers of employment, contract of employment, arranged interviews, memberships with professional organizations etc.



What if I have graduated on an MBA programme from an institute not on the list?
If you have graduated on an MBA programme but the institute is not on the list of eligible institutes at the time of graduation you will not be entitled to apply under the MBA provision. If you still wish to apply under HSMP then you should complete the standard sections of the HSMP application form.


What if I have graduated from one of the eligible institutions prior to the list being published?
If you have graduated on an MBA programme from an institute that is on the list of eligible institutes, but you graduated before the list was published, you will not be entitled to apply under the MBA provision. If you still wish to apply under HSMP then you should complete the standard sections of the HSMP application form.


What if I have graduated on another course at one of the eligible institutions?
The MBA provision within the HSMP scheme is only appropriate to MBA graduates. If you have graduated through any other course at one of the eligible institutions you are not entitled to apply under the MBA provision. If you still wish to apply under HSMP then you should complete the standard sections of the HSMP application form.


What if the list has been updated and the institute I graduated from is no longer on the list?
The list of the 50 eligible institutions will be reviewed and re-published by the Treasury annually. If you have graduated from an institution that was on the list at the time of your graduation but the institute has since been removed from the list you will still be entitled to apply for the MBA Provision.


Can I apply while in the UK?
You can apply for the UK skilled migration status onshore unless you are in the UK as visitor or tourist or off shore.


What is “leave to remain”?
Provided you have lodged your application under the Tier 1 points-based system while in the UK once your application is approved you should then apply for a leave to remain which will permit you to remain in the UK as a skilled person. It shall be submitted before your current status in the UK will have been expired.


What is “entry clearance”?
Provided you have lodged your application under the Tier 1 points-based system out of the UK i.e. in your country of citizenship/official residence once your application is approved you should then apply for an entry clearance which will permit you to enter the UK as a skilled person. You should apply for an entry clearance within three months after the receipt of your Tier 1 approval letter.


Will I receive back the originals I’ve attached to the Tier 1 application?
Yes. Once the application process is complete you will receive your documents back. If you need your documents back before this time, please contact us so that we organize this.


Do I need to send my passport in with the Tier 1 application?
Yes, you need to send your original passport at this stage.


What is the processing time?
The UK Immigration authorities do not specify the terms as they depend on their workload.
